Rinspeed sQuba: Underwater Car

If you were to talk about a car moving underwater, people would think you are speaking about an animation concept & not something in reality. This quirky concept though, is very much an actual vehicle. If creativity can result in cars that can fly, why not a car that can swim?! Swiss auto giant Rinspeed has designed one such vehicle: the sQuba. A James Bond fan, Frank M. Rinderknecht (the head honcho at Rinspeed) came up with this unique creation.

The sQuba is a 2-seater car on a steel chasis with Carbon Nano Tubes incorporated in the body panels.
The street engine is electric, as are the Water-Stern propellers.
Basic Features of Rinspeed sQuba:
* Wheelbase: 2'300 mm
* Ground clearance: 130 mm
* Top speed: > 120 km/h
* Water speed: > 6 km/h
* Under water speed: > 3 km/h
* Dive depth: 10 m

Uses of sQuba
* The most obvious functional use of the sQuba is in action films
* The sQuba can be used by marine environmentalists who do underwater research to save coral reefs & marine life.
* The sQuba can be used by marine research scientists who wish to track the journey of marine residents like whales.
* The sQuba will be of tremendous help for Navy personnel & others who go on rescue missions at sea.
